ALPA: The President of the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) praised the President Biden for signing the FAA reauthorization bill. The final legislation includes a 1500-hour training requirement for pilots, creating a pathway for requiring secondary barriers for existing passenger aircraft, establishing a national plan to improve recruitment, hiring, and retention of the civil aviation workforce, promoting women in aviation, and updating pilot mental health protocols. IFALPA: The International Federation of Air Line Pilots’ Associations (IFALPA) finished their annual conference. During it, two organizations were voted into membership, its Executive Board welcomed its first two women, and bid farewell to several longstanding volunteers.
