Last month, more than 750 researchers, clinicians, scientists, engineers, students, and others attended the Mayo Clinic’s AI Research Summit, both online and in person in Rochester, MN. The conference highlighted emerging applications of AI in healthcare, including multi-agentic AI and realistic simulations to help users test ideas, make informed decisions, and tackle more complex tasks. With every exciting new application discussed, speakers reinforced the need for human oversight and accountability, as well as better governance and supporting infrastructure to ensure that these tools are deployed safely, responsibly, and reliably.
