The Marie Marvingt Award is presented annually to honor a member for excellence and innovation in aerospace medicine. It is sponsored by La Société Francophone de Médecine Aérospatiale.

Dr. Peter H.U. Lee, M.D., Ph.D., MPH, MS, FACS, FACC, FAsMA, Lt Col, USANG, is the 2026 recipient of the Marie Marvingt Award for his innovative contributions to both aerospace medicine and space life sciences. He is a physician-scientist and practicing cardiothoracic surgeon whose work has focused on advancing aerospace medicine through translational research in microgravity physiology and biomedical innovation. Over the course of his career, he has led or contributed to numerous spaceflight and reduced-gravity investigations, including parabolic flight campaigns, suborbital missions, Space Shuttle experiments, and multiple studies aboard the International Space Station. These efforts have examined skeletal muscle atrophy, cardiac dysfunction, and the cellular and molecular responses to spaceflight, with a particular focus on leveraging tissue engineering, stem cell biology, and gene therapy approaches to model and mitigate these changes. He has been the recipient of many awards. His work has contributed to a growing body of research using human-relevant engineered systems to bridge the gap between basic science and operational space medicine, with downstream applications to terrestrial disease, including muscle wasting and cardiovascular dysfunction.
